Fed: Flood damage will cost industry more than fires, Burke says

The federal government says Queensland's floods have had a far greater impact on the
nation's agriculture than the fires in Victoria.

Agriculture Minister TONY BURKE has been visiting regions in Victoria where he says
fencing damage is one of biggest problems facing farmers .. and stock losses are also
significant.

But he's told ABC radio .. Queensland's floods covered an area the size of South Australia
.. and in terms of damage to the agriculture sector .. were more expensive than Victoria's
fires.
