Sizzling Sales beyond TV Shopping

SHENZHEN, Nov 18, 2008 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- Sales made by TV shopping vendors beyond the TV shopping sector have been growing rapidly, according to the latest research conducted by Analysys International. And the market research firm suggests that TV shopping companies should further expand their marketing channels.

The research indicates that the non-TV-shopping-sales of TV shopping companies increased to CNY 940 million by the end of 2007, in contrast to CNY 360 million in 2006, representing an increase of 163.4%. Non-TV-shopping-sales as a share of their total revenues were up from 8% in 2006 to 23.5% by 2007.

Analysys International attributes the fast growth of non-TV-shopping-sales largely to the rapid proliferation of Internet, which is more cost-effective and efficient.

Analysys International suggests that TV shopping companies should take a page out of the playbooks of long-established ecommerce websites such as Dangdang.com and Joyo.com. And they should put the priority on brand recognition and reputation.
