I read, with interest, Andy Rooney's recent piece entitled ``Why Dresden Was Bombed.'' I, too, had been troubled by 50th anniversary events marking this tragedy troubled by, as Mr. Rooney noted, no mention of the similarly terrible bombings inflicted by the Germans on British cities and, particularly, the infamous Coventry raid.
I did some research and, among other things, found that Coventry suffered554 deaths, as opposed to Mr. Rooney's statement that ``thousands of civilians were killed.''
I noted that 35,000 people died in Dresden, as Mr. Rooney said. I noted that Britain suffered 60,575 deaths as a result …
