TEXAS COURT DISMISSES TROOPER SUIT.

The Texas Supreme Court has refused to reinstate a suit alleging defects in a 1988 Isuzu Trooper's wiring harness and rear seat belt.

The court ruled that one of the plaintiffs' mechanical engineers was not qualified to give an expert opinion on either purported defect, and that the other mechanical engineer's expert testimony failed to support the allegations.

Defense lawyer James Maxwell of Dallas predicted the decision will encourage lawyers for automakers to challenge the credentials of plaintiffs' experts more frequently before trial as a way to win dismissal of product liability suits.
